Finding a Natural Medicine Practice near You

Picture
There are ways to find natural medicine doctors near you, including some organizations with websites for practitioner searches.  Some of these practitioners may do primary care for adults and/or children, and if not, they could refer you to someone who does.
One organization that can help is the American Holistic Medical Association (AHMA). They have recently changed their name to the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (AIHM). There tends to be a very positive emphasis on psychological, social, and spiritual health in this organization, which I find quite refreshing.  The AIHM does not have that many members because it is limited to MD’s and DO's, and has fairly high membership dues.
Another good organization for finding practitioners is the National Center for Homeopathy (NCH). There is a section in their website where you can search for practitioners. NCH has more members both because it is a lot cheaper to be a member, and because anyone with any type of license can be a member including massage therapists, counselors, chiropractors, veterinarians, etc.
Dr Bob Sears has an excellent website here with a list of “vaccine friendly” doctors.  They are not necessarily holistic or natural medicine oriented doctors, and he does not know them personally, but it is a very good resource.

You can also try asking local midwives,
natural health stores, and chiropractors located in your neighborhood, many of whom can be found with online searches. Most of these people use a primary care doctor of some sort, and even if they cannot help you, you could simply ask them who they see.

Whatever the method used to find them, I would recommend calling the practitioner's office to ask questions and get a feel for the type of practice, including whether they do primary care
